Principal Change Management Consultant


Rockwood Company is a fast-growing management consulting firm that helps government and corporate organizations solve their most complex problems. Our Principal Change Management Consultants mentor and coach our team members while applying their expertise to maximize client potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own exceptional delivery and client satisfaction on a diverse portfolio of client engagements (likely a set of projects with 3-8 people on each team) and manage large projects to completion. Guide project work by (1) using proven methodologies and frameworks (knowledge of multiple ways to analyze the current state, future opportunities, and strategies) and (2) simplifying complex scenarios for staff to increase teams understanding of possibility and approach

  • Manage the production of complex client deliverables and ensure consistency of high-quality deliverables across projects (incorporating graphics, and other display techniques to succinctly report out on data and analysis)

  • Design, facilitate, and manage large-scale client sessions in ambiguity, sometimes with little context or advanced notice

  • Actively coach clients in the moment, leveraging leadership principles (Informal or formal leadership coaching expertise)

  • Serve as lead (Manager) for Business Development Proposals, coordinating the process and leading the theming and contributing to the writing

  • Network and generate new client leads

  • Teach consulting frameworks to team members and oversee their application of these frameworks during client engagements and the creation of deliverables

  • Lead multiple business activities (In support of developing the Rockwood business)

  • Expand existing client relationships by identifying need and securing additional or new services

  • Leverage network of existing relationships to identify high-quality talent and partners

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred

  • At least one certification for work in the Organizational Development, Change Management, Leadership Coaching, Human Resources (or other) topic area

  • 15+ years of relevant work experience, which includes at least 10 years in a management consultant role

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple engagements simultaneously and prioritize demands

  • Extensive experience leading change management projects; prior experience leading:

    • Strategy development,

    • Organizational design, and

    • Workforce readiness

  • Extensive experience developing staff members into exceptional consultants with experience teaching basic consulting frameworks and working with consultants on the active development of those skillsets – providing constant feedback in practice

  • Ability to “advise/think” and “do”

    • Client/customer focus with outstanding organization skills and attention-to‐detail

    • Strong leadership with willingness and ability to directly contribute to the creation of client deliverables

  • Willingness to travel to client locations in and around DC Metro area; occasional travel outside of DC area/out-of-state

  • Strong analytical and critical thinker with an innate ability to solve complex problems creatively

  • Active Top Secret (TS-SCI) clearance is highly preferred; will consider lower clearance levels and uncleared candidates if they can obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
